Rabbi Ehud Bandel is the Rabbi of Kehilat Nitzan - Melbourne's first conservative (Masorti) congregation. Prior to his arrival in Australia in January 2006, he served for eight years as the President of the Masorti (Conservative) Movement in Israel.
A native of Jerusalem, he served in the Nahal paratroopers unit in the IDF before completing his studies in Jewish History and Jewish Philosophy at the Hebrew Universtity in Jerusalem. In 1998 he became the first native-born Israeli to be ordained a Masorti Rabbi in Israel.
Rabbi Bandel is active in human rights and interfaith issues; he served as Executive Director of the Rabbis for Human Rights (HRH) and currently is Vice President of the International Council of Christians and Jews (ICCJ).
Rabbi Bandel is married to Avital, and father of three children Naama, Hadas and Ro'i.
