Synagogue Services

Services are held at Kadima, 7 Selwyn Street, Elsternwick (near the Elsternwick railway station). (Map) Our services are traditional egalitarian, with both women and men participating equally.

Erev Shabbat (Friday evening) services are Carlebach style with lots of singing. The service starts at 6:30pm and lasts no longer than an hour.

Shabbat morning services start at 9:30am, usually finishing around 12pm, with a kiddush following the service. Note that Kehilat Nitzan follows a triennial cycle for Torah reading.

Children's services for ages 3-11 are held on the 1st and 3rd Shabbat morning of every month (and also any week with a Bar/Bat Mitzvah) from around 10:30am for 45 minutes. These services are lots of fun with our charismatic Israeli shlichim.

We use the Conservative movement's Siddur Sim Shalom prayerbook. You can access audio files of some of the major prayers. (Note that the page numbers are different in our edition.)

If you want to help lead parts of our service, contact our gabbai, Trevor Corran.
