The Luminous exhibition at the State Library has brought some exceptional Hebrew manuscripts to Melbourne for the first time. Rabbi Yonatan and Mark Ellison will talk about some of them, from a halachic and historical point of view respectively. Among the documents we'll be looking at are a letter in Maimonides' own handwriting and a unique Judeo-Urdu manuscript which was a precursor to Bollywood, as well as a Sefer Torah from the long gone Jewish community of Kaifeng in China.
